Depending on how you choose to proceed, our Home Energy Audit and Home Energy Services include these steps

1. Data collection about your home— We will spend time with you and your home so that we understand how you live and how your home works. This will include inspections of walls, windows, doors, insulation, heating and cooling and other appliances, the attic, the basement and just how your house breathes.

2. Testing and evaluation of your home—We will test your house with technologies such as a blower door for infiltration, infrared imaging for leak identification, CO meters to assess combustion appliance efficiency and gas detectors to identify potentially dangerous leaks.

3. Modeling of your home—We will use REM/Rate, an EPA recognized home modeling tool to create a computer model of your house. REM/Rate will calculate a HERS index and allow us to determine how much money you can save with different improvements and how long it will take to pay back your investment.

4. Prepare specifications for your home—We will prepare specifications for the recommendations that we propose so that you know your home energy improvements are being done the right way. This will include qualifying contractors and obtaining multiple bids so that you can rest assured about how your money is being spent.

5. Supervise contractors working on your home—We will provide direction and supervision of contractors working on your home to make sure that they do it the right way.

6. Assist you with tax, loan and rebate paperwork for your home—Although we are not accountants, we do know our way through the maze of financial incentives available to help lessen the burden of reducing your carbon footprint. We will help you navigate that maze.
