Yes, you probably are. If you weren’t then you wouldn’t be looking at this web site. But how can you fix something if you don’t know what is wrong with it? A Home Energy Audit will analyze just where you waste energy in your home and provide you with suggestions including cost estimates to reduce that waste. We will test the leakiness of your home with blower door and duct test testing. We will pinpoint leaks and inspect insulation with infrared imaging. We will evaluate the efficiency of heating and cooling equipment and major appliances. And, because we will be recommending changes that will probably reduce air flow into and out of your home, we will evaluate combustion appliances to ensure that they are operating safely and not producing unhealthy or even dangerous gases in your home. This is important. Many people don’t realize the health and safety hazards in their own homes. That ‘new home smell’ is chemical out gassing from carpets and paint. The wall paper peels because of mold laden moisture that rots joists and aggravates allergies. We burn gas on cook tops without thinking of how the waste gas, similar to what comes out of the car tailpipe, will get out of the house. So do we want to live in a cave or do we want to provide a safe environment both inside and outside of our home? An Energy Audit and the knowledge it provides will provide the path to move from the cave to the future.

Why should you use Green Energy Engineering Services for an audit? Our name says it all. Green is because we think that people realize that we are a part of the world and that we need to protect it in everything that we do. Energy because that is what we work with. The efficient and safe use of energy. We want you to use your energy to be comfortable in your home without wasting that energy and your money or damaging the environment. Engineering because with a licensed Professional Engineer, PE, on permanent staff, we have the technical knowledge and understanding to look at the whole picture of your energy usage. A PE is somebody who is licensed by the state, not ‘certified’ by a membership association. A PE requires a four year bachelor of science in engineering from an accredited university, four years of experience certified by the state and other PEs, two 8-hour examinations and endorsement from three other PEs. This recognized expertise is why a PE is required to sign off on all building designs. Services because that is what we do. We provide services to you and nobody else. We don’t sell surveys as a foot in the door for windows or insulation or other products and services. YOU and your satisfaction are our only interest in providing an unbiased evaluation of your energy usage and what can be done to reduce it.
